Active Military:

If you are Active Duty Military, then you do not have to pay city fees for wheel tax. In order to be exempt from these fees, you must first provide proof of eligibility.

The following documents must be sent and accepted by the Shelby County Clerk's office prior to the renewal being processed.

Active Duty and living in Shelby County
1. Leave and Earning Statement (LES) or
2. A copy of your Military ID with Expiration Date or
3. A copy of your orders

Active Duty and stationed outside of Shelby County:
1. Leave and Earning Statement(LES)

During the online process the system will not reflect the discount. Once your documentation has been reviewed and accepted (usually within 1-2 business days) the payment will be adjusted to reflect the Military discount. Just follow the steps for the online renewal.

If your documentation has not been reviewed yet or is not accepted, you can still renew online. However, you will be paying the full fees.
